Share folders via Internet. -> which port?

Hi there.

I have set my XP Pro to share some folders with "Advanced
File Sharing" so only verified user can access them.

It all works fine, but my firewall (ZoneAlarm) blocks -
all I have to do is, to open the ports which are used by
foldersharing in Windows...

Someone?

Thx, C. Lindebod

I wouldn't recommend that you open up file and print sharing to the
internet as it can have many undesired side effects. I would
recommend that you set up incoming connections (i.e., VPN) which is a
secure environment.

See http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/xp_vpn_server.htm and
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/xp_vpn.htm for more
information. After you have this set up, put Zone Alarm in learning
mode and have a friend try to make a connection to your machine in
order to set up the rule (which is to allow TCP 1723 and IP Protocol
47 to pass through the firewall).
