I have mapped the z: on my workgroup Vista Business computer to a DFS-N share
hosted by a Windows Server 2003 computer, which has shadow copies enabled on
the volume containing all the shares under the DFS root.
Usually, restoring previous versions works just fine, but the other day I
restored a previous version of a file several subdirectories under the DFS
root like I normally do from my Vista machine (say for example I restored
Z:\share1\subfolder\picture.jpg to a previous version). Since then, whenever
I open Z:\share1\, I see a subfolder called @GMT-2007.05.15-19.00.03
(obviously, this is the time I rolled that file back to). This folder only
appears on the Vista machine that I restored that one file from, but is not
able to be deleted.
It's not a big deal, and I could probably disconnect the mapped network
drive and re-initialize the offline files cache and it would disappear, but
it's kind of a pain and I'd like to know how to get rid of it easier, should
it ever happen again.
By the way, I used the local group policy to specify that all of my Z:
should be administratively always available offline, but that @GMT...folder
is the only one missing the green Available offline icon, adding to my belief
that this isn't a 'real' folder, but a Vista glitch that should be able to be
cleared somehow. I CAN open the @GMT folder and browse it through explorer
like a real folder however.
