sfc / scannow

I have some intabilety issues with my xp sp2 so I decided to run sfc.
Start>Run>sfc / scannow
A black box appears for a half second and disapears nothing happens more.
Not even in dosbox it's working.

The number of spaces between the "C" and the "/" is entiurely irrelevant, as
long as there is at least one. What is important is that there be *no*
spaces between the "/" and the "S," and his attempt failed because there was
a space there.
