When I run sfc/scannow and it asks for the Win CD, it appears to restore
some files to the default values. Is there a chance that other installed
software had replaced some of those files with later revisions, so that
reverting to default versions might give some problems? In Win98, we had the
option of replacing critical files or not; I don't see that option in Win
XP.

Thanks....Lee

To restore individual files, use Expand.exe command from MS-DOS box.
