I just did a fresh install of XP Pro. Everything seemed
to be working fine, then I started having a few issues.
Background: I am running a self built system with AMD 1.2
gh, ASUS board, 768 RAM, a DVD rom, DVD rom, CD burner,
DVD burner, 2 external hard drives (firewire).
Issue 1, Freezing on boot up. My desktop is loaded and my
icons start appearing in my sys tray. As one of my
external hard drive icon is loaded and before Norton, it
freezes. Mouse is unable to move and Ctrl-Alt-Del will
not work. After 1-4 reboots even some unsuccessfully in
Safemode, the system finally comes up - then most seems
well. When I look in my Event Viewer, I have disk and
Atapi errors that suggest to change my ide cable, so I
did - still getting the errors.
Issue 2, when using Intervideo DVD Copy to burn a 2 layer
to a one layer, it processes the files, but I get an error
that the application must shut down - this is right
before burning a dvd after the processing of the files.
Therefore no burning takes place. I have sent Microsoft
the errors. It just seems freaky to me, since I have been
burning suucessfully for many days since the fresh install
of XP.
If anyone can help me, please do!!
