Setup Remote Desktop using XP Home as server?

Hi,

My home pc has Windows XP Home Edition installed. My laptop, which I use on
the road has Windows XP Professional installed.

Is it possible to use Remote Desktop from my laptop to logon to my home pc,
and control it as an administrator remotely?

Or does the home pc have to have Windows XP Professional installed too?

If I can do this on Windows XP Home, do I have to create a new user with
administraor rights on the home pc (which is running XP Home)?

This is because I want to be able to manage the router on my home pc, setup
port forwarding remotely, and perform other tasks such as run any program on
the home pc from my laptop over the internet from anywhere.

If that is a no go, how can I control the Home pc, do I need someone to
'Request Assistance'?

thanks for any help or suggestions

*** No.

*** Yes. Your laptop, on the other hand, can run any version of Windows.

*** Many routers have inbuilt remote management facilities.

*** You could use a free tool such as WinVNC.
