Setup Outlook via the Internet, but can't find Exchange over the I

I have a couple of Outlook 2002 (a part of Office XP) in a branch office and
I’m trying to setup Outlook via the Internet for them. However, I can’t find
“Exchange over the Internet†option (under the Connection tab) though I
already setup 4 computers, which have Outlook 2003.
In addition, I can’t find the same option from my outlook (Outlook 2003 with
SP2) while I found the option from other computers.
Is there anyone knows how to resolve this issue?
By the way, does Outlook via the Internet work with only Outlook 2003?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2002 does not have that same functionality. You would need to connect via a VPN.

Thanks for your comment.
By the way, do you know why the “Exchange over the Internet†option is not
availble on my Outlook though it is Outlook 2003?

Off the top of my head, no, but I do recall that there are some group policy options that could be blocking it.

Hello Sue,

I think it requires Windows XP SP2 as I've checked a few more computers with
my ID.
If I'm wrong, let me know.

Thanks,

Hello Sue,

Yes, you are right.
Since I installed the update, I'm able to see the option.
Thanks for your help.

Hi sue,
Can you help by specifying what are the configuration needed to be done if i
want to connect to the office exhange server mailbox over VPN. Our office
firewall doesnt have proxy installed on it.
so in connection Tab of email accounts i cannot use the http// proxy settings.
I can vpn to the office and the same laptop when is in office connects to
the exchange server but from home through VPN i cannot connect . I had to use
Outlook web access.

There's usually no additional configuration required. I do the same thing
here and once I have the VPN tunnel established, Outlook works just like I
was connected at the office. My first guess, therefore, would be a firewall
issue. Do you get any error messages?
