I understand the limitations of XP pro stated in the Knowledge-Base

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303013

My questions is... i want my primary hard drive to be 160 GB I dont wanna
partition it. However XP only assigns me 137GB on the install. These edits
and stuff listed above mess up my hard drive or actually the FAT and render
the drive useless without a reformat. I understood long ago XP supported up
to 4TB of hard drive space. Why is there this 137GB limit? Any one know how i
can install this OS on the FULL 160GB hard drive I payed for?
Thanks,
Dan

Your WinXP disk (as noted in the web link above) must be an original release
(not an SP1 version with 48-bit Logical Block Addressing (LBA) support). I
would highly recommend that you create a new "slipstream" CD, if not to SP2
at least to SP1 for 48-bit LBA support.

I created a new bootable CD with SP2 slipstreamed. Installed a new 160 Gb
Seagate hard drive and installed it with no problem last weekend [ok, it
took me 5 minutes to find my old W2K system CD when asked during
installation, since this was an WinXP upgrade version :-) ]

One of these utilities makes slipstreaming (integrating SP1 or SP2) into
Windows XP easy to follow:
