Setup of XP Home

I have a win 98 SE and I bought the upgrade to xp. But
setup gives two errors -- can't copy either of these files
from the cd:mfc42.dll & migisol.exe. Then it says it
can't complete setup due to error number 457FF58h. I
checked my hard drive and i don't have either of the two
files already so i can't understand why it can't copy
those two files. and the microsoft site has no FAQ which
addresses the error number. Other than return the product
for a refund, what do I do?
 
Did you disconnect all external devices (inclusion of
printers), as you perform the same procedures for an
upgrade as for a clean install of the operating system.
Try disconnecting everything and reinstalling your
upgrade. Also make certain you have no other programs (
like anti virus enabled)and you should get a clean
upgrade.
