When I insert a CD for installing new software, the setup.exe file does not
automatically start execution. I can run it by double clicking it, but how
do I have it start automatically?

Hi

There are quite a few programs that stop the autorun feature from working
like Nero Burning Rom

Click START
Click RUN
Type 'regedit' & press OK
Naviage to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom

See the value 'AutoRun'

Change to '1' (enable) or '0' (disable)

That should sort it out.

If the Autorun (DWORD value) isn't there then right-click in the right pane,
new DWORD... Double-click it & then change it to 1 (enable)

Remember, if the CD doesn't have a autorun.inf file then it won't autorun
anyway

Hope this helps,

I tried this. The Autorun was there and had a value of 1. There was another
entry in this list called AutoRunDisable which was set to a value of NEC. I
deleted this AutoRunDisable, but my system still will not auto launch
setup.exe even when there is a valid autorun.inf file.
Thanks for the help. Any other ideas to try?
