Setting up Wndows to UK date formate

I have a new laptop with Windows XP. All my dates in
things like Excel and Word are comming up as MM/DD/YYYY,
how can I set it to DD/MM/YYYY?

Any help appreciated,

Control Panel>Regional and Language Options - click on 'Customise' and then set the appropriate options using the Date & Time tabs.
