Setting up RDC web

I am setting up a rdc on a computer with 2 nics one for the internet and the
other for private network. The private network has a Ditigal video system
hooked up and running and can be accessed via the computer through a D Link
524 router. The internet is set up on a seperate nic and has DSL hooked into
it (the modem is a prestiege 645). No router or switch just straight to the
NIC. The computer is currently runnig Win XP Pro. all is good. What I'm
trying to do is setup remote desktop web connection with a static IP address
given to me by the ISP. My ultimate goal is to veiw my ditigal video system
through the remote desk top. What is needed to setup and what steps are
needed to connect to remote computer? Do I need to put the DSL modem behind a
router? I'm confused and need help

Thanks,

Mike

Well, based on your description I would connect the DSL modem to the routers
WAN port. Then connect each PC to the routers LAN ports. Check the routers
users guide for help connecting and configuring a DSL connection and
connecting PCs. You would also disable ICS on the PC that is currently
connected to your modem.

Once you get that squared away you could forward/open TCP Port 3389 on the
router to the private LAN IP of the PC you want to connect to. Personally I
recommend not using the web based method unless its absolutely necessary. If
it is you also need to forward/open TCP Port 80 (IIS). Note that many ISPs
block TCP Port 80 because running a web server on a residential account
violates the terms of service you signed/agreed to when you signed up with
the ISP.
