Setting up Fax Dialing Rules

My Windows Fax feature works great for local numbers but when I try to do it
International it seems like it just dials the whole set of numbers without a
pause and I can't fax.

I am on a temporary overseas assignment in Colombia (Country Code - 57) and
I need to fax a few pages to the US. I know the process for faxing locally
but it seems like I can't set up the "Dialing Rules" correctly with the
Wizard.

The number I need to dial for ATT International Access is: 018009110010

After dialing this number I need a pause while waiting for the automated
message to stop and then I need to dial a "ATT Toll free fax number: 800
xxx-xxxx" that would let me fax what I need.

I have done this manually from a regular fax and it goes through with no
problems. How do I set it up with the Wizard...?

Usually, commas inserted in the dialup string will create a pause. Use
multiple commas for a longer pause.

Thanks Craig for your assistance.

I do seem to get a pause with the commas in betwen the access numbers and
the actual fax number I am calling.

But I listened to the modem and I noticed that I do not get the ATT
automated message during the pause ("Thank you for calling AT&T, please dial
the number that you are calling....") and the second set of numbers start
rolling. So the Fax process stops there.

I did it manually from my phone hand set and the pause required is not more
that 4 seconds. For security I actually inserted 3 commas (to equal 6
seconds) and later 5 (to equal 10 seconds) but it appears that when the modem
dials the first set of numbers, doesn't dial like you would manually.

I guess that there is a tone that the telephony system is not getting from
the modem to make it think it is done dialing the first set of numbers....?

Control panel, Phone and modem options, modem/advanced tab.

Also, try asking the local phone company about settings and
timing.

Thank you Jim but I called the phone company and they sounded clueless about
settings and timing. They gave me a feeling of incompetency.
What should I be looking for or changing in the advanced tab you talk
about...?
