Setting up exchange profile with GPO

I am trying to setup the ability of my customer base to log on to any
computer without the need to call HelpDesk and walk them through setting up
various items. I've fixed the map drives and printers, now I need to figure
out a way to setup the exchange profile on their machines automaticly. Our
email is on a exchange 5.5 (I know it is old). Our Active Directory is in
Windows 2000 native mode. We do not have any trust relationships with the
domain the server is located in. I realize the outlook profile is nothing
more than some registry entries. I was wondering if there was a way to setup
a GPO to input the necessary information needed to allow our customers to go
to any computer and log into email. Hopefully somebody out there has an
idea. Thanks

Hi,

It´s not possible by GPO, you need to script it. Most of the settings
are Reg_Binary so you can´t work with a selfmade ADM Template.

Easiest way: Redeploy Office with a MST, created by Office Resource Kit
or use the Office ResKit to create a MailProfil (profile.prf) and
apply this PRF file by script.

Old Outlook Version up to 2000 can work with prfpatch.exe in loginscript,
Outlook versions from XP ´til now have this "Apply PRF File Feature"
integrated in the outlook.exe as a parameter /importprf

Best Alternativ: Buy Desktopstandard PolicyMaker, they can do all
this by real GPO, they have integrated a CSE.
