setting up email

hi and help please- trying to set up email- incoming seems ok- outgoing gets
me this error message- I guess I'm too old for this- thanks
account 'pop.mail.yahoo.com. server pop.mail.yahoo.com. protocol pop3
server response ERR popgate unknown command, port 110. server (ssl) no
server error ox800ccc90 error number ox800ccc18-

It’s a wrong setting somewhere, this is the usual culprit:
Windows Mail > Tools > Accounts > Mail > Properties > Servers Tab and
uncheck ‘My server requires…’.

Do you have a paid account with Yahoo? Most free Yahoo accounts don't
have POP access.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers,
make sure "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is unchecked.

If that was already unchecked, which antivirus are you running?

Thanks a lot Gary, I have had just the identical problem yesterday. I
uncheced the box as you said and it seems to have brought me back to normal.
I'm not sure why it worked but thats ok.
