setting up email account

I have entered all setting for my email account but keep getting this
annoying message...The connection to the server has failed. Account:
'mail.optusnet.com.au', Server: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I am absolutely sure that I have entered the right settings.. What can I do
 
WinMail/Tools/Options/Advanced tab/Maintenance/Troubleshooting... check
logging of log in dialogue and see what you get.... post here.

That type of error is often caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off.
 
can anyone help me set up my windows email account l always seem to stuff it
up ?? try to send an email just comes up with errors .

Well, don't keep those error messages a secret.
Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message.
