That's an informative message, not necessarily an error message. It
means that the network connection doesn't have access to the Internet,
but it doesn't say anything about local area network connectivity.

Have you connected the two computers directly to each other, with no
Internet connection involved? If so, the message is normal, and it
should have no effect on whether the computers can communicate with
each other. Go ahead and try file sharing between them.

Here are some ways to make the message go away:

1. Open the Network Connections folder, right-click the local area
connection, click Properties, and un-check the box "Notify me when
this connection has limited or no connectivity".

2. Assign a static IP address to both computers' network connection,
such as 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2, both with subnet mask
255.255.255.0.

3. Connect the computers to a home broadband router.

that's good to know but i still don't know how to share between the two
computers or how to assign a static IP address, and option 3 is out of the
question in my area. As far as I can tell in my limited knowledge is that i'm
not even recognizing the other computer.
