Setting to print more "Boldly"? (using Canon PIXMA MP600 to print music)

Hi, All,

I just purchased a Canon PIXMA MP600 all-in-one printer, which works
very well for most of my printing needs. Text and graphics look really
nice. BUT...

I often need to print out pages of music. When I print a page of music
the notes look nice and sharp and crisp, but the staff lines and
measure bars look too thin and light. This is NOT actually a printing
defect; the small lies are printed very sharply & crisply, and are
easily seen. The problem is that I want them to be printed darker!
(Most commercial music is printed with the staff lines noticeably
bolder than my Canon prints them.)

With my old printer (an Epson CX5400) the music looked better, even
though the Canon is actually the better printer overall.

If I print out a page of music, and then use the unit to make a copy
with the copier function set to the darkest setting, then the music
looks right.

My question: I can't find a setting in the printer driver to increase
the "darkness" of the print. I would like to adjust the printing
function like I can adjust the copy darkness while copying.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Just go thru all of the menu choices and take everything off automatic.
You can also print from PhotoShop and use print preview with a profile.
You can also try Curves.

Or you can just try running it through the printer twice. Make sure the
paper guides are not loose. A decent printer will hit the mark dead on
and you will end up with darker lines.

With precise one picoliter ink bursts, I would expect those staff lines to
be the exact width of the original. You can make the lines darker by
printing in presentation quality instead of standard, but you can't make
them wider without using a sloppy printer.

Perhaps the answer lies in the software used to create the original.

Not a well though out answer. Most printer who take up sheet paper
using rollers will not register to that level of accuracy required. But
those are the type of answers one can expect from refillers.
