Setting roming profile properties in GP

Andrew Hodgson

Hi,

I want to set specific OUs to have specific server names for profiles.
For example, on the Accounts OU I wish all users to have the profiles
on server1\profiles\%username%, and on the sales OU I wish to have the
profiles stored in server2\profiles\%username%. This is to really
cope with users being in different buildings, and I wish to separate
out the profiles.

Any suggestions on how to do this with using GPO? I don't wish to
have to change profiles manually in each user's properties.

Thanks.
Andrew.

I can´t be done by GPO, because at time GPO processing starts, the
profile must be there, to be edited by GPO.

The profile can only be defined in the user options. GPO can only
manipulate it and e.g. create a folder redirection, from folders
inside the profile, but not the profile path itself.

That was my thought :(. Has anyone got a scheme that they use to do
this - something possibly set in the machine variables or anything
else?

Thanks.

dsa.msc -> OU -> search all userobjects -> STRG+A -> Properties
Profilespath = \\server2\profiles\%username%

One single point to edit. Same effort as in one single GPO.
If a new user must be integrated you have to create him and
it is no matter if you copy a user only with homeshare properties,
or with profilepath aswell. It takes the same time.

So, I don´t see any need for a scripted or GPO handled solution.
