Setting for DOS based application

I have a DOS based app that I have to setup the preferences for as far as
screen, font and buffer size. I can configure this to save setting for all
users of the PC by copying the shortcut to the "All Users" desktop. But what
if I want to save the setting configured for different computers? When I copy
the shortcut to a network drive and copy it to the users desktop the default
settings take affect and I have to reconfigure the settings. Any help would
be appreciated!! Thanks in advance

I was unable to duplicate your results. When I copied a
Command Prompt shortcut from a WinXP to a Win2000
machine then all settings were preserved. I suspect that
your target location is invalid on the receiving machine,
which may cause the shortcut to recreate itself.
