I am running Vista Home Premium and have two displays working well together.
Is it possible to have a different background on each?

No.
Your desktop is either stretched across or mirrored. It is not a different
one.

It is possible using a 3rd party application (such as UltraMon). You can not
only have different backgrounds but different screensavers as well!!

Mike, and you are an MVP I think? Lol... another MVP saying something is
impossible..
Im fed of with these MVP naysayers.. they dont even know vista well
enough....
and claim that vista is faster than xp.. GESH! If you are not an MVP I
forgive you...

to the OP>>>>

Of course its possible with windows as it is or with ultramon that is now
vista compatible...
for ultramon just install it and you will figure it out...

for windows stich 2 wallpapers one next to eacho ther using a program like
photoshop so that
this becomes one large wallpaper (long wallpaper if your monitors are side
by side) then
set this as a wallpaper in windows but on the TILE setting...

ill look around for a tutorial if you need one... post back

Irrespective of my status my response was accurate as I am not about to go
look at the large number of third party tools and hacks that follow a new OS
release, nor am I familiar with every one - least of all pointless ones that
could possibly resolve this question - as I see no reason to require
separate wallpapers on a stretched or mirrored desktop.
From the perspective of the base product - since the original poster did not
suggest anything else or express their interest in one of the multitude of
third party bits, my answer was entity accurate.

Another poster later responded with a third party option.
