set3,4,8.tmp

Hello,
Have Windows XP Home SP3, updated.
Found following files.
windows\set3.tmp (1767KB)
windows\set4.tmp (1064KB)
windows\set8.tmp (17KB)
Opened with Wordpad, found at the bottom of the file the Microsoft time cert.
Located one bit of information on the Microsoft site, not helpful.
Probably due to my ignorance.
Google found several different types of information, from Microsoft
programming to malware.
Are they left over from some Windows, security or update installation?
Thank you for information concerning this item.

take care.

Convention says that all files with a .tmp extension are temporary
files that can be deleted. I have never seen an exception.
