Hi

I'm trying to setup my outlook (which I believe uses Outlook express) to
read news. I want to be able to click the go menu, click news, then be able
to access this site through outlook express instead of using internet. I
have set the server name to http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups which is
probably completely wrong. Please can anyone help - I've searched the older
posts already.

Thanks

Anita (using Outlook 2003)

The server's name is msnews.microsoft.com

No password is required.

When you setup the OE newsreader, be sure NOT to include your correct e-mail
address. If you want people to contact you directly (not recommended), modify it
in such a way that is evident, such as; (e-mail address removed)

Clicking on this link should automatically start OE's NNTP newsreader for you:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlook.general

Thanks v. much - it is now connecting to the server but when asked for my
user name and password is this my dot net passport? as it keeps asking me
over and over again.

No password is required for this server. You may have an incorrect setting in
OE.

Launch OE and click on Tools > Accounts > News [tab]. Click on the Properties
button and verify that the Server info does NOT have "This server requires me to
log on" enabled.
