Set up e-mail notification of events in event log?

How can I have a Windows 2000 server send me e-mail notifications of certain
events that are logged in the event log system? I have an application that
puts events in the log, but it does not have the capability also send e-mail
notifications. Can I do this with some existing Windows function?
 
You'll need a third party tool to do that. Search the net for "Event
Log Alert", "Event log monitoring" or "event log watcher" and you should
get results to investigate.

We are using a product called Castle Rock AKA Gombot that seems to work quite
well, utilises SNMP as well if you have that configured
