I'd like the windows of folders I open to show directories on the left, and
contents of selected directories on the right. I know I can do this by
clicking the "Folders" icon, but I want this view as a default.

I know it is possible, I just don't remember how.

Why not just make a shortcut to explorer.exe?

Create a shortcut, and in the Targe box type:

explorer.exe /e

If you want Explorer to open in a particular folder, you can specifiy it
like this:

explorer.exe /e,D:\Folder path

Don't overlook the comma.

Doesn't Win+E do that? It does here.

Not what I want. I don;t want to have to make a shortcut for every folder I
will open. Can't I just make it the defualt for any folder I open? I used to
have it before my computer was reformated.

Too many buttons on this mouse.

Mine doesn't without first clicking on the "Folders" button. I want that view
to appear by defualt when a window is opened in Windows, like by
double-clicking on My Computer or opening a folder in the Found Items list.
