set default save location to PST?

Hello Outlook gurus,

In Outlook, you can specify which folder in your default store to save
unsent messages (eg: Inbox, Sent Items).

But I want the default save location to be in a PERSONAL FOLDER(PST).
When I try to set it, I get an error "this folder is not part of the
default store". It sounds like by design, Outlook must save unsent
items in the mailbox store, not in a PST.

Anyone know a way around this? BTW, I'm not a VB programmer...

Thanks,
Deborah

You can have items going into a pst when you have a mailbox in the profile
be warned though that the pst will become the default for everything, to
change delivery to a pst we will need to know your Outlook version.

By design, Outlook must saves drafts (and sent items as well) in a folder in the same store as the default Inbox. The default store can be either a mailbox or a .pst file.

Thanks for the quick response. The version is Outlook 2003 SP1.

If Noel advises you to change your delivery location and you do, keep in
mind that it will suck everything out of your Exchange mailbox and you won't
be able to access from any other PC or from the network with Outlook Web
Access.

I wasn't going to advise I was going to tell Deborah how to and add the
warning :), Deborah to change the delivery then go to Tools || Email
Accounts || Next || drop down at bottom left of page. As Brian pointed out
everything will get pulled from the Exchange mailbox into the pst.
