services and event viewer in vista

When I right click computer and click manage, then services or event viewer
they show up as notepad items. I can't make changes as I could before. How
can I restore
these items

Start > Regedit

Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.msc

Change the value of (Default) in the right pane (double-click on it) to

"MSCFile" (minus quotes)
