Servicepackfiles folder and slipstreamed CD

Hello -
I have the servicepackfiles folder in my c:\windows
after installing SP2.

I've created a slipstreamed XP install cdrom at the SP2
level and have run a successful sfc /scannow using it.

However, the servicepackfiles folder is still
in existance.

I though that the slip streamed CD would be detected
and that rather large servicepackfiles folder deleted,
since it's not really needed now.

How's this supposed to work?

The SPF folder is set up so it is searched before the CD is, hence
ensuring you get SP versions even if using an older CD. Provided you
are satisfied you will not do that in error, you should be able to get
rid of the folder (I would start by renaming it and check things out)
and then deleting the references to ServicePackSourcePath at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
in the registry - or perhaps setting that so it points to the CD drive
too

Thanks Alex,
I could have sworn when I did sp1 and the sp1 slipstreamed
CD that windows itself deleted the servicepackfiles after doing
a sfc /scannow with the sp1 level CD.
Didn't happen this time.

Also, I've got two installs of xp pro, two different
partitions both at sp2, two different copies of the
servicepackfiles. Thats 1GB of wasted space.
At the very least I should be able to modify the
registry of one of the systems and point it to the
other folder and delete its own.
