Service started slowly

I have a program in Startup menu which is automatically started right after
Window is logon. This program depends are some other services or device
services. It's running fine in Win 2K. However it complains many of the
services are not up after running on Win XP (SP2), even those services are
"automatic start" type services. After Win XP logged on, if I wait for a
couple of minutes then start my program, then it's OK. So it looks like when
Win XP is logged on, actually many of the services is still not up yet, while
Win 2k is up, those services are already up. Is my statement corrent here?
Are any way like registry change can make all services ready when Window XP
is loggon?

Thanks in advance!

If this program itself installs it's own service, then you can make that
programs service dependent on the other services it's needs.
Another option is a program like 'Startup Delayer' which will delay the
startup of you program by a number of seconds that you specify.

And you are correct in your observation. To speed up the log-in peroformance
in Windows XP over Windows 2000, Microsoft delayed the start of many
non-essential services. You get to your desktop quicker, and the services
open in the background. Of course in your case it's not helping you be more
productive, because you need a services to be started before your program.

I have no suggestions specifically, but I thought I'd let you know why it
does that.
