service packs

when the next service pack arrives for Win XP, is there an option so i can
install it over a network? as both of my pcs are connected via a network

There should be a "network install" version. However, the service pack will
not be shipping until sometime in 2004. Any info you find that it will come
out, within the next weeks, is describing the special release of the "beta"
version of the SP2. Only available to the beta tester and may/may not be
the final general release version.

You can download a service pack that you can use for a network install from
the following link.

The Network installation
When you use the Network installation option, you can download an executable
file (W2ksp4.exe) that contains all of the SP4 files. This is a useful
option if you want to set up a shared network folder for deploying SP4
across a network. For more information about installing SP4 on multiple
computers, see the Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Installation and
Deployment Guide in the \Support\Tools folder on the Service Pack 4 CD (see
SPDeploy.htm).
