My sister is having trouble connecting to a network and
the internet with her computer running windows xp. after
troubleshooting on microsoft.com we were told to install
service pack 1, the problem is she cannot connect to the
internet to download it. the only version of the service
pack that i could find needs to be downloaded on the
computer which it is going to be installed on, is there a
version which can be downloaded onto another computer and
then transfered to hers?

Hello!

Windows XP has so far only one service pack i.e XP SP1.

If the installed XP has a valid key then may be

the server problem is causing trouble to download.

You could try looking for it on one of these free disk
that you can get with some computer mags
But not haveing SP1 on you system should not stop you
connecting to the net
