Service Pack SP1

F

frustrated person

I downloaded Microsoft Service Pack SP1 and now when I
try and go to their update site to get the latest
updates/upgrades it gives me a screen that says I must be
using a Microsoft Licensed Browers or Internet Explorer
5.5 or above. Which I do have!! Also, when I try and
download other service packs it gives me an error half
way through the downloading process saying that it did
not pass the Microsoft XP logo test. But I it from the
Microsoft site and I have Windows XP Home Edition loaded
onto my computer. What does anyone suggest is the problem
and how can I fix it?? Thank you.

I'm not trying to be a smart a** or anything, but are
you sure you actually went to microsoft for the service
pack. The reason I'm asking is if you were sent an email
with a link to go to reguarding that service pack, you
were responding to a bogus microsoft and have probably
picked up that nasty ole Swen,A virus. Their about 25
different emails floating around with that and variations
of this virus. If you don't have a reliable Anti Virus
program,.....Get one! it will save you much agrivation.
If your are protected, great. But I'm not tech enough
to tell you exactly what to do about the download problem.
Mabe you should a registry check, and\or update and back
it up. I have Win 98v2 and have recently downloaded SP1
but have had no problems. Let us Know What You find Dave
