Service Pack is lower than required to apply hotfix

I need to apply the hotfix to prevent the worm from
getting my computer yet I get the message: KB823980 -
version of service pack installed on system is lower than
necessary to apply hotfix - minimum service pack is 2.

What can I do about this? I am on MS 2000 version
5.00.195.

Hi lois

Please do the following:

Go to 'Start' and there Select 'Run..'. In the new window that appears type
"winver" (without the ") and press OK. A new Window (About Windows) will
open. There look for the 2nd line (below Microsoft (R) Windows) and post
what is written there.
Once I know what Version you are running I will be able to help you.
