Over the past couple of weeks I have had a problem with
svchost.exe generating errors and closing the program which
results in my not being able to disconnect from the
internet normally. The only solution is to restart. I have
tried downloading and installing SP2/3 & 4 to cure this but
after waiting for up to 2 hrs to download them 3 & 4 both
came up with error messages, with no explanation, near to
or at the end of the installation. With all 3, shutting
down the system and restarting resulted in ye olde blue
screen "STOP 0x0000007B......inaccessable boot device".
Running the 2000 repair or 2000 setup gets the system to
boot but the SPs are never installed so security is out of
the window (no pun intended)at the moment apart from anti
virus. Does anyone out there know what is happening cos, as
far as I can find, Microsoft don't.
