Service pack 4 for end users?

Oh dopey me! I spent 3 hours last night, 3 hours today, updating from the
site, and still 45 minutes left (on downloading sp4 from windows update). I
did not see the sp4 for end users until I spent all the time above with the
others! Why in the world would it be near the bottom of the page of 60 +
updates that I needed? Ya Ya, I should have looked, but I think it should
have been at the top! My question is.....Now that sp4 is downloading, when
done, can I delete ALL the "hot Fixes" that are crowding the "add/remove
program" window? Thank you..........

It needs to be installed separately.....and my friend, it's been out for
years - you should've had it by now. Tsk tsk tsk! :)

Don't rely only on WU for service packs...you should keep on top of this.

No. Don't uninstall hotfixes. You don't need to....and you may not even see
them after.

Maybe, but I just got win2000pro for a laptop I am building as a spare. Never
had win2000 before 3 days ago.

OK - still good to keep apprised of what you're supposed to run on it. Take
a look at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/tools/mbsahome.mspx -
MBSA will tell you what you're missing. Very handy.

I'd do XP on a laptop especially if I were just building a new one....XP is
much nicer in many ways & has longer to go until end-of-life. Still, I don't
know whether you have a license for it. Just my $.02.

I did put xppro in it, but it was missing a ton of files? (new sealed,
unregistered) So I got a 2000 os to get it going to be sure I had things
right. I contacted the guy I got it from(xppro), and he sent me another copy.
Got it today, and it is not sealed, and the oem sticker is stuck to the back
of the sleeve! He got some splainin to do!

Get your money back and go to a retail shop and buy a box product. OEM
without hardware bundle = illegal. :)
