service pack 3

I installed Service Pack 3 and now my "address bar" at the bottom of my
desktop is gone. I need it to access websites instead of having to open
explorer first.

Anyone know why? It is not even listed as a toolbar

The address bar is a toolbar, but has been removed as an option in
SP3.

Nevertheless, it's easy to get it back. Here's one
way:

http://www.niversoft.com/downloads/xp-sp3-addressbar.zip

There's no installer, but there are instruction on a txt file in the
zip archive.

You'll get more responses I'm sure, But I think it was removed in SP3.

Not trying to be dumb, but how do you access a website if you don't open
explorer (IE)? I've never figured that out? Make google your home
page. It opens fast and starts with the search bar already.

Removed with SP3. Google for it. Work-arounds abound.

Also - I don't believe you *need* it, you may like it, it may make things
simpler for you in some manner - but I know of thousands of machines without
it - personally.

I think you're missing the point. The OP wants to type in something
in the address bar at the bottom of XP (old style) to get to a website.
I mean, isn't that what the address bar is for? So the OP wants a
website, and uses the address bar!, but to finally see the site, they
have to use a browser, so why not just open the browser and type it in
at the top of the browser. *Any browser*, yes I know IE,FF,Opera!!!

Understand, I've never seen this address bar thing. So I'm only
guessing and I'm really curious why its so good, as I've seen more than
just one question about it. So it must have some value and it might
just to me! I'm open to ideas! Hell, I've gotten a ton of links /
Software / tweaks from these NG's.
