SERVICE PACK 3 INSTALLATION

When installer is inspecting my computer for installation
it brings up an error file atapi.sys is open or in use

system is up to sp2

same problem ocurs when trying to install sp4

What's up with this

This error message can be caused by virtual drives software.

If you are using any virtual drives, for example Daemon Tools or
Alcohol's virtual drive, then you must disable them, and in the case
of Daemon Tools uninstall the program.

Alternatively, try to rename the file before (or while) you
install the service pack:

When the installation complains about Atapi.sys and asks you to
"Retry" or "Cancel", simply go to Windows/System32/Drivers and
rename Atapi.sys to whatever. Then go back to the installation
and select "Retry" - the installation should then complete.
