service pack 2

I am on windows xp and have automatice updates selected, but I am unable to
get sp2. Each time I try do download it it says the product key is invalid.
I have tried installing by disk but it also does this. All the other updates
seem to get installed ok. why does it say this and how can I put it right so
that I can get sp2?
