I just installed SP2 last night on my home XP Pro PC and
had very similar issues. On first reboot, I couldn't get
anything to run at all, I could not even execute the
uninstall file. After 15 minutes of trying many things I
did a hard reboot and then waited. Somehow the stars
were aligned because on the second reboot, everything was
well. I don't know if it got hung up with my existing
firewall (ZA) that I didn't shut down prior to install or
the Anti-Virus that I didn't shut down. But so far I
have not noticed any other issues...I'm sure they'll come.
