service pack 2

Tried installing service pack 2 for windows 2000 and now
computer runs extremely slow...

What can I do to increase the speed of the windows 2000
start up process.

Service Pack 2 for Windows 2000? That is quite old. I recommend you update
to Service Pack 4.
