Today my auto download indicated that an update was
available for installation. I checked and saw that it was
Service Pack 2. I am running Win XP Home Edition in a
Toshiba Satellite 1905-S301 laptop. I proceeded to run the
installation. When done, the dialog box instructs one to
Restart, which I did. Now my system will not boot. I get
an error message page giving me these options:

Start Windows normally
Start in Safe Mode
Start in Safe Mode with Networking Support
Start with prior configuration

I tried all of these. Nothing works. The system is caught
in an endless loop.

Because Toshiba did not supply a copy of Win XP, I cannot
get into the system.

So users beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use your set of Toshiba recovery disks (which they did supply) to
recover or re-install XP. Next time use some caution and make a
backup of the system prior to making major changes. I updated my
Toshiba Satellite without a problem. Toshiba support even states on
their web site that SP2 is safe to install.
