Service pack 2 and Internet Explorer

When I installed the new service pack 2 on my computer Internet Explorer
wouldn't open. When I removed sp2 it worked ok again! Is this a known fault
and what can I do about it?!

Thanks but I didn't find the support helpful at all. It was horrendously
slow and I didn't get much in the way of suggestions! 'There must be some
sort of firewall problem' was about the best they could come up with. I
guessed this myself as Windows Firewall won't open from the control panel!
