service pack 1

Bill

I have a Windows ME machine with IE6.0. I also have it set up for automatic
updates.

I noticed that I seemed to be getting many automatic updates and upon
investigation have found that IE6.0 service pack (kb889293) has been
downloaded and installed 7+ times and I continue to get automatic updates.

Even when I go to the web site and scan for updates I still get the message
that this critical update needs to be installed. Apparently my version of
ie6.0 does not show or report to the MS web site that I have already
installed the update.

Any ideas for a fix?

Regards,

Bill
