Service and Controller app

Can someone please tell me what this is? I have just
updated the latest windows 2000 professional security
updates and since then have had trouble getting onto
broadband internet. I have a firewall (Zone Alarm)
installed and have to turn it off before I can log onto
the internet. Checked to see if Zone Alarm was reset to
default after downloads but it is still the same setting
as pre security downloads. Zone Alarm keeps asking for
internet access permission for Services and Controller App
what is this? Before I checked "no" and could still access
the internet, now I cannot access with either "yes"
or "no". i.e. until I turn off the firewall. I would
appreciate any feedback on my problem.

I suggest that you post in a newsgroup that discusses personal firewalls such as
ZoneAlarm. One such group is named grc.security.software.

Try this-in Zone alarm programs page, right on the
services and controller app name and click remove.
Services and Controller should be is important so the pc
to work.
