Server won't sync due to DNS error?

I have 2 win2000 servers. One is my PDC and the second is my Exchange 2000
server. They were fine, now I get the following errors and they won't sync.

Main Server - PDC
13:35pm
Source = NtFrs
Event ID = 13508
The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from
EXCHANGE to UNITY_INS for c:\winnt\sysvol\domain using the DNS name
exchange.unity. FRS will keep retrying.
Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning.

[1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name exchange.unity from this
computer.
[2] FRS is not running on exchange.unity.
[3] The topology information in the Active Directory for this replica has
not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers.

This event log message will appear once per connection, After the problem is
fixed you will see another event log message indicating that the connection
has been established.

Exchange Server - BDC
Same as above

Under Directory Services...

Source = NTDS Replication
EventID = 1586
The checkpoint with the PDC was unsuccessful. The checkpointing process will
be retried again in four hours. A full synchronization of the security
database to downlevel domain controllers may take place if this machine is
promoted to be the PDC before the next successful checkpoint. The error
returned was: The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup
failure.

Any ideas?

Are you getting any other events logged?
What is the SP level?

From whay I'm reading above your domain appears to be a single label domain
name. (domain vs. domain.com)

Single label domains cause registration errors on Win2k SP4 because SP4 will
not register in a TLD which is what your macines see the domain name as if
it is a single label name. This has always been a problem with XP and there
is a work around registry hack that allows XP and Win2k SP4 to register in a
TLD.

Hmm, not enough info. Probably using your ISP's DNS addresses? When AD
replicates, or any other services needed in AD, it queries DNS, specifically
it;s own DNS. If another DNS is in your config, such as ISP's, this will
cause numerous issues. This rule should also be followed for the clients
too. FOr efficient INternet resolution, use a forwarder. If forwarding is
grayed out, delete the root zone. This shows how to do both:

Can you post an unedited ipconfig /all to better assist?
Thanks
