Server Service Won't Start

When I try to start the Server service I get an error message that the
system can't find the specified file -- C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe.
The file is there in the right folder and Task Manager shows svchost.exe
running.
Please, what am I doing wrong? I am trying to set some shared folders and
this is stopping me although I can map drives on both the other computers on
the network.
Running WinXP with all updates.

It's \windows\system32\srvsvc.dll that you need to look for.

Is this an HP machine by any chance?
