Server service starts and then stops immediately - help!!

I am trying to share files between two windows XP
machines, and the computer with all the files on it
cannot seem to keep the server service running. I have
it set to automatic, and have manually started it, but it
immediately gets a stop command.

I have cleaned up the two virii that were on the machine,
and since that point have reinstalled the network card,
protocols, etc. I have even done a full repair
installation of XP - still the server service refuses to
stay up longer than 1-2 seconds. Without the service
running, I cannot share files. What can I do? Thanks in
advance!

Are there any messages about the Server Service in Event Viewer? To
see, click Start | Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance |
