server for newsgroup

Which server do i use to be able to see this newsgroup in outlook please?
i use tiscali in the uk, but they dont hold this one.

You would use the same server for all readers. Not knowing (or needing to
know) which server hosts this group in the UK, I can't say.
However, it is likely that you can get access via Microsoft's server
anywhere.

Outlook doesn't do newsgroups; it calls Outlook Express. The Microsoft
server is msnews.microsoft.com and no username/password is required.

The same servers apply whatever newsgroup reader you are using.

Outlook must be configured to read news. When you do so, it calls up the
newsreader from Outlook Express.

Three points:

1. What newsreader you use has nothing to do with what news server you
use.

2. Outlook doesn't do newsgroups. You probably mean Outlook Express,
which is a very different program from Outlook.

3. The Microsoft server is msnews.microsoft.com. You can get this and
all other microsoft.public... newsgroups there.

Strange - I used MS Outlook 2000 for a while and had no trouble reading
newsgroups with it.

You may have thought you were reading newsgroups with it, but you
weren't. All that happens when you use what Microsoft calls the
"Microsoft Outlook Newsreader" is that Outlook starts Outlook Express
for you, in newsonly mode.

So it's really Outlook Express, and not Outlook at all. If you need
any corroboration of that, try deleting msimn.exe (Outlook Express) or
changing its name, and trying to run the "Microsoft Outlook
Newsreader." It won't work.

You are not the first person Microsoft has confused with their weird
nomenclature.

In fact, Outlook seems to use the same newsreader as Outlook Express.

It's not the same newsreader as Outlook Express, it *is* Outlook
Express.
