Server fails after SP4

Good day.

I applied SP4 to a Win2K server, rebooted, and the system now fails to
start. The system will show the Win2K splash screen, paint the blue
squares across the "status box", then reboots.

Client's ERD is not current, but may be usable.

Any other suggestions?
