server desktop disappeared

I am running server 2003. I cannot find a server 2003 newsgroup.

I uninstalled google desktop and the entire windows desktop disappeared.
The background picture is there. The only key combinations that work are
Ctrl-alt-del (task manager) and a combination that brings up speech to text.
When server is restarted, the taskbar shows up for one second.

The google uninstall said that I must restart to continue and I did. I
uninstalled google desktop because the manhatten windows user group was very
strongly against it. My website kept going down and I would periodically not
be able to get into the server from the internet.

Please tell me how to restore the desktop.

Thanks

Verify that the Explorer.exe shell is the associated or default logon
shell at the Winlogon registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"Shell"="Explorer.exe"
